When drinking water contamination incidents happen we need procedures in place to provide guidance to better communicate and quickly respond.

The aim is to effectively minimize the impact on public health of consumers and safeguard the reputation of the Water Utility.

With the Portuguese transposition of the Directive (EU) 2020/2184 of the European Parliament and of the Council, of 16 December 2020 on the quality of water intended for human consumption, all drinking water utilities must have communication and response procedures for drinking water contamination incidents (article 12(4)(f) of Decree-Law n.º 69/2023, of 21 August).
