- Development of Crisis Management Plans for water supply systems (CMP)
- Review of the Drinking water System Risk Assessment for mandatory requirements to the Portuguese Regulator (ERSAR)
- Preparation of Communication Plans for emergency situations related to drinking water quality

Cristina Martinho | Founder and Director
CMMartinho Consulting was founded and is led by Cristina Martinho, a specialist in Water Safety Plans (WSP) and Sanitation Safety Plans (SSP).
She holds a degree in Chemical Engineering and postgraduate qualifications in Sanitary Engineering and Industrial Engineering from the NOVA School of Science and Technology. She has worked in the water and sanitation sector since 2001, specialising in risk assessment and risk management for drinking water supply and sanitation systems.
She is among the select group of World Health Organization (WHO) trainers for these two methodologies (WSP and SSP).
Professional Experience
She began her career at SMAS Peniche (2001), working in the operation of drinking water supply and wastewater systems and gaining practical experience in their management.
Later (2007), she joined the Water Quality Department of the Portuguese Regulator (ERSAR), where she contributed to the development of technical documentation for utilities support.
She co-founded Acquawise Consulting (2011), supporting the implementation of Water Safety Plans, audits, and specialized training. She participated in the World Health Organization’s pilot project in Portugal for the application of the Sanitation Safety Plan methodology and collaborated on the technical review of the manual and its translation to Portuguese.
More recently, she founded CMMartinho Consulting (2018), continuing her activity as a consultant, trainer and auditor in the water and sanitation sector.
