Risk Assessment for Water Reuse (WFR)
The reuse of treated wastewater for non-potable uses — referred to as water for reuse (WFR) — requires a prior risk assessment under Decree-Law 119/2019 and Regulation (EU) 2020/741.
The assessment must cover the chain from the point of delivery of WFR by the producer to the point of application.
It aims to:
- Protecting human health
- Safeguarding the environment
- Ensuring safe use for the different intended applications
The methodology applied by CMMartinho Consulting is based on the guidelines of the World Health Organization (WHO) and the framework adopted by the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA).
